Diminishing perspective at a low angle.

If you ever have some free time to shoot without an assignment, just for fun, with lots of subjects, check out a nearby city.  In my case Philadelphia, It’s where I go and it has lots of subjects.

I’m like a tourist in my own city.  I sometimes feel like a bobble head doll.  I am always looking for that shot.   While walking around, I can see the other tourist snapping the same photo the person in front of them has taken; everybody has the same photos in their photo albums.
So I made that my assignment.  Take that same photo but somehow make it different.

Make a vanishing point in the photo.

These are some of my favorite images to photograph.  There is something about the line of sight falling off into the distant background that pulls you into the image.  There is a real depth to the image.  Not a depth of field, but, a feeling drawing you in and taking you down that street, that path or in this picture, the colonel sidewalk of Old Philadelphia.

I also lowered my camera by lying on the ground to get another perspective.  I wanted to also give a feeling of largeness (is that a word) to this photo.  I live in a city with a wealth of history.  Our forefathers started this great country and walked these sidewalks.  I always appreciate and never forget why they did all they did so I wanted to incorporate that feeling into this photograph.
