At first glance it’s a little confusing.  What is this?  Most will know right away.  It’s a motorcycle engine.  Is that it?  Just the engine?  where’s the rest?

I was walking the streets of Ybor city and noticed two motorcycles.  One was brand new the other was a customized bike.  Bright red paint job with flames on the gas tank (of course).  The two were like a before and after bikes.  What a contrast!

I started shooting with the “before and after” idea but couldn’t make it work.  The photos were too confusing, too much ugh in it.  Yes I said ugh.  The photos of the “After” bike were just so beautiful.

As a photographer I first see an interesting subject with lots of eye catching details.  But as an artist, I notice the details and the love and time that must have gone into building a bike like this.  Every inch was clean and seemed in its precise location as to complement the other pieces of this machine.  It was like looking at artwork.  Okay, not like pottery or a painting but like a sculpture.  Put together like a puzzle with various materials and textures, culminating into a single element.

I shot lots of photos but this one was unavoidable to share.

Photo was take on a sunny afternoon at f/9  1/320sec  ISO 100  34mm focal length.
